The Senior Visitor Services Associate works as part of a team to create and maintain a
welcoming, informative, inclusive, and friendly experience for all visitors. This role
proactively interacts with visitors to provide exceptional customer service, accountability
and uphold the values of the Miami Design Preservation League Visitor Center, with
integrity, and professionalism. The VSA must be knowledgeable about Miami, Miami
Beach and surrounding areas, able to work in a fast pace, high volume environment,
with a wide range of people at all levels to ensure an exemplary visitor experience.

Specific duties to be performed:

 Assists the center Director, performs clerical work and routine office tasks related
to center operations as the Director deems necessary. Art Deco Welcome Center
is open 7-days
 Provide exceptional customer service in daily interactions with visitors and
uphold an environment that is welcoming, friendly and approachable
 Commit to an inclusive, and respectful environment for volunteers, and fellow
staff members
 Serve as a role models and mentor to other team members
 Proactively engage visitors by providing information about our city and
surrounding areas. Inclusive of our core products MDPL walks, Audio, Museum
and Gift shop, cultural venues, attractions, family friendly activities, programs,
and local activities.
 Understands the Miami Design Preservation League origins and ongoing
mission, proactively promote the MDPL museum and gift shop.
 Facilitate admission and registration process for all walking tour attendees
 Direct visitors into queues to enable access, manage crowd control
 Track brochure inventory on order list, receive and restock upon arrival. Inform
Center Director when items are running low. Able to lift a load up to 10lbs.
 Perform routine office task or duties as needed by the center Director
 Utilize IPAD and point of sale system to sell tickets and conduct transactions.
 Become familiar with all brochures, programming and distribution materials at the
center to further enhance the guest experience
 Organize products and Wall displays as needed
 Be open to different schedules and be available for holidays and weekends
 Maintain a clean and organized workstation, follow Visitor Center opening and
closing checklist standards. (posted 24/7 by employee workstation to assure
 Answer and redirect as needed incoming calls. collect, and respond to voice mail
 Open and close cash registers, perform tasks such as counting money, going to
the bank, separating charge slips, and balancing cash drawers, balance batch,
vouchers and POS daily at close.

Qualifications and skills:


 High school diploma or equivalent.
 Fluent in English, minimum 2 yrs experience in customer service and
related work (museum, attraction, retail, education).
 Strong written and oral communication and analytical skills, cash
handling, excellent attention to detail, exceedingly well-organized, conflict
resolution ability, and a professional and flexible manner
 Ability to read, understand and apply basic technical instructions and
materials, general familiarity with Microsoft Office and google platforms
 Excellent customer service and communication skills, along with a
positive approach to service recovery

 Experience in the hospitality industry, and fluency in foreign languages

Job Type: Full-Time
 This is a full-time (35-40 hours per week). Workdays can vary, weekend and
evening availability is required. For applicant’s knowledge regarding scheduling,
please note the busiest season is during the winter holidays, so those applicants
not planning travel during the holiday will be the best fit

Salary: $12.00 / hour + Incentives:
 Commissions on sales (% based on certain criteria)
 Commissions on tours and rentals
 Gift shop Discount

Pay Frequency:
 Bi weekly or Twice monthly
