Miami Design Preservation League

MDPL’s guided walking tours are a great way to get a look at the National Register Historic District and its architecture – Art Deco, Mediterranean Revival and Miami Modern.  Our tours are led by knowledgeable local architects, preservationists and historians.  All tours last approximately 90 minutes.  Times are subject to change, so please check when purchasing tickets. 

Tickets are available at the MDPL Tour Booth in front of the Art Deco Welcome Center at 10^th and Ocean Drive at the following times:  Fri, Jan 15, 11:30 am – 5:00 pm; Sat, Jan 16, 9:30 am – 5:00 pm; Sun, Jan 17, 9:30 am – 5:00 pm.  Tour rates are Adults - $20; Seniors - $15; Children under 12 – FREE; MDPL members – FREE.  

Except as noted below, all tours begin at the Tour Booth.

OCEAN DRIVE TOUR:  an introduction to the architectural styles found within the Miami Beach Architectural Historic District.  Explore hotels, restaurants and other commercial structures, both inside and outside.

OCEAN DRIVE TOUR EN ESPANOL; 

   Schedule: Sat, Jan 16 – 4 pm;

Sun Jan 17 – 2 pm

UNDERWORLD TOUR:  explores the Art Deco District through the lens of organized crime and other infamous acts of murder and mayhem.

   Schedule: Sat, Jan 16 – 1 pm;

Sun, Jan 17 – 1 pm

COLLINS PARK TOUR:  explores the neighborhood around Collins Park, from the grand Collins Avenue hotels to MiMo apartment buildings to the Bass Museum.  Tour departs from the lobby of the National Hotel, 1677 Collins Avenue.

Schedule: Sat, Jan 16 – 11 am;

Sun, Jan 17 – 11 am

LINCOLN ROAD TOUR:  learn about the early history of Miami Beach, when Carl Fisher’s Lincoln Road was “the Fifth Avenue of the South.”  Tour departs from Starbucks, 420 Lincoln Road, just west of Washington Avenue.    Schedule: Sat, Jan 16 – 12 pm;

Sun, Jan 17 – 12 pm

COCKTAILS WITH A TWIST:  combines a traditional “pub crawl” with surprise performances and engaging commentary covering history and architecture.  Each of the stops features a special event and the opportunity to sample distinctive cocktails.  (Beverages not included in the price of the tour.)
