Miami Beach Sister Cities International program partnered with the Miami Design Preservation League to bring back its celebration of Miami Beach’s multicultural heritage. The international art exhibit was displayed in the Art Deco Welcome Center from May 16-27, 2011. The exhibit represented the countries of Spain, Japan, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Israel, Colombia, Canada, and Brazil. These countries are home to Miami Beach’s 11 sister cities.
On May 16th, the Sister Cities International Program and MDPL hosted an opening reception to celebrate the 1st Annual Sister Cities International Artist Showcase in Miami Beach. Bice at Victor catered the event with delicious passed appetizers. There was great music, fine wine, wonderful people, and beautiful art! It was truly a night to remember.
The exhibit was open daily at the Art Deco Welcome Center for nearly two weeks and drew a crowd each day. MDPL, Sister Cities organizers, and the contributing artists were thrilled to see the huge response from tourists and local residents whom visited the exhibit. We are looking forward to next year!
