Join us in January 2009 as Art Deco Weekend explores the rich culture of Argentina. Art Deco found a home throughout Argentina, but especially so in the broad avenues, gracious neighborhoods, and luxurious movie palaces of the capitol city of Buenos Aires. The Argentine film industry was in full gear through the 1930s, producing classic films and the world’s first animated features. The sultry forms of the tango, found in high-ceilinged milongas and dance halls, became popular worldwide as stylish and sophisticated icons of music and dance. Art Deco may have found its first expression in Paris, France, but in Buenos Aires, the “Paris of the South,” it found a stately and supremely elegant home.
The music begins in just 140 days!
