The 20th Century Society of the Carolina Mountains (TCSCM) has partnered with Miami Design Preservation League to present the Chicago & 20th Century Design Tour, scheduled for September 2-7, 2008. MDPL members and friends are invited to join this exceptional visit to one of the country's most interesting and exciting architectural cities.

CBOTThe tour is being organized by TCSCM President (and MDPL member) Mick Beyer, along with other TCSCM volunteers. The ambitious itinerary spans the design spectrum including Prairie School, Arts & Crafts, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Mid-Century. Programs are characterized by their manageable size and access to venues not typically open to the public. (Guests are also encouraged to arrive a few days early and enjoy the Chicago Jazz Festival, August 28-31!)

TCSCM has negotiated an outstanding rate at the Palmer House Hilton for participants, and also arranged for discount airfare on American Airlines.

Registration for this program will be limited to TCSCM and MDPL members until mid-May. After mid-May, any remaining places will be open to those in other Art Deco, architectural, and historical societies. The group is limited to just 50 people, and we anticipate the tour will sell out. To avoid disappointment, register early!. As an incentive, there is a savings of $75 if the registration is received before 01 July 2008.

Further details and a preliminary itinerary are available on TCSCM's website. While you're there, be sure to view some of the photos and commentary regarding their well-regarded 2006 Cleveland tour.
