Our series of free concerts celebrates the music of the Art Deco-era and beyond. We've got an exciting roster of consummate pros providing an intriguing mix of music throughout the festival. Jazz, gypsy jazz, Latin jazz, blues, soul, funk, folk ... come hear it all! Concerts take place on the stage at 13th Street and Ocean Drive.
FRIDAY, JAN. 18
2:30 & 4 pm
Musician and songwriter David Feder kicks off our Art Deco Weekend program with the compelling musical style he calls "hillbilly flamenco," a blend of jazz, funk, blues, and flamenco sounds. Carl Hiaasen calls him "one of the best-kept secrets in the Florida Keys."
5:30, 6 & 7:30 pm
Award-winning jazz duo Kelly Dow and Julie Davis, known for their inventive approach to jazz and pop standards, formed Hot House Swing a few years ago, after falling in love with gypsy jazz music. Don't miss their big, unique sound.
SATURDAY, JAN. 19
2 & 3 pm
Matthew Sabatella and the Rambling String Band's roots-based music carries on the tradition of the great American song. Hear folk music at its best from local favorites.
4, 5:30 & 7 pm
10 pm at Jazid
The Juanita Dixon Band provides a dose of upbeat swing jazz from the Cotton Club era, performing several shows from the festival stage and then taking the music into a cabaret setting with a 10 pm performance at Miami Beach nightclub Jazid (1342 Washington Ave.). Known as South Florida's "Bluuze Mama," this show-stopping jazz diva, a long-time local favorite, now performs internationally.
SUNDAY, JAN. 20
1 & 2:30 pm
Eric Bogart and Rick Harris offer up swing and jazz classics from the '30s and '40s, in traditional gypsy jazz style - check out this spirited, infectious music.
3, 4:30 & 6 pm
Finish the weekend on the right note with Jack Bluni and the Big City Band. Their electrifying, danceable mix of blues, rhythm and blues, and soul is the perfect end to a perfect festival.
