Saturday 19 January
New this year to Art Deco Weekend is Dogtown, our special gathering spot for dogs and their owners. Visit with other local dog owners in the grassy lawn of Lummus Park and 9th Street. Several local dog organizations will be on hand to raffle dog paraphernalia, distribute information and free gifts, and sell dog-related merchandise. The Humane Society of Greater Miami and Friends of Greyhounds will have dogs available for adoption. You can even meet the honorary grand marshall, McGruff the Crime Dog.
The Costume Contest is open to all dogs (and their owners!) who come in costume. A panel of judges representing some of South Florida’s dog-focused organizations will award the ‘Best in Show’ award.
The ‘“Arf” Deco Dog Parade kicks off from Dogtown at 12 noon, heading north on Ocean Drive. The parade turns right at 11th Street, and then continues south along the Beach Walk, ending back in Dogtown. Goody bags will be available to guests after the parade. Bring your camera to have a commemorative picture taken at our special Broadway red carpet walk.
Dogtown is open from 10 am to 1 pm. Costume Contest begins at 11:30, and the “Arf” Deco Dog Parade begins at 12 noon.
