From dance inspired by Bob Marley to dance that interprets Goldilocks, from tall tales for children to performances by children…Art Deco Weekend offers a variety of dance and stage events for the entire family. All performances are free and take place on the South Stage, at 7th Street and Ocean Drive.

SATURDAY, JAN. 13
12 & 2 pm

Your host Mark Twain presents American tall tales in Fantasy Theatre Factory’s Animal Stories. The performers act out and embellish stories that illustrate early American humor, determination, and ingenuity. Indian legends, folktales,

Appalachian tales, and other stories are included in the mix.

1 & 4 pm
Body Nation Dance Theater presents A Tribute to Bob Marley. Based in South Florida, this company of young dancers (ages range from 6 to 25) performs internationally. Their blend of jazz, Caribbean, and calypso styles has made them a longtime Art Deco Weekend favorite.

3 & 5 pm
Actors’ Playhouse Musical Miracles performs Rock Musicals Through the Ages. This group of young performers, based at Coral Gables’ historic Miracle Theatre, shares its work with the community by performing their lively shows at area fairs and festivals.

SUNDAY, JAN. 14
12 pm

Fritzner Paul’s wild and rambunctious Magic Show is a good time for all ages — and many species — featuring live animals (lots of rabbits!) and drawing loads of kids from the crowd into the act.

1 & 3 pm
Actors Playhouse Musical Miracles performs Rock Musicals Through the Ages (see Saturday).

2 & 4 pm
Momentum Dance, Florida’s oldest modern dance troupe, performs Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The classic tale of spoiled Goldilocks and the three bears who teach her a lesson is told through dance, music, and narration. Goldilocks transforms from a spoiled brat into a delightful young lady after her encounter with the three bears.

5 pm
The Dance Now! Ensemble wraps up Art Deco Weekend’s dance and stage performances. A grass roots, contemporary dance company, the group embraces the diverse attitudes of South Florida. The Dance Now! Ensemble presents repertory works and excerpts from its newest work, Donne: Mothers, Daughters, Sisters, Lovers… Inspired by the women in this predominantly female company, Donne brings to life intimate stories woven by their collective experiences.
