Beguiled Again: Art Deco Takes the Stage

Art Deco Weekend 2008 will celebrate the exuberant, toe-tapping Broadway musicals of the 1930s and 40s. When Broadway met Art Deco, the result was an exciting blend of art, industry, beauty, and glamour. The emerging Art Deco movement inspired stagecraft, costume and scenic design, choreography, and more. The weekend will include a special tribute to George Abbott, the legendary Broadway showman who wrote, directed, and produced so many noted plays — including The Pajama Game and Damn Yankees— and who lived on Miami Beach for many years at the end of his 107- year-long life.
